A Study of Work Stress among Clinical Nurses


Abstract
This study was carried out to measure the degree of work stress among clinical nurses and to ident.fy related factors influencing the work stress.
Data were collected from 114 nurses who participated in the In-Service education program of Jin ju District, CyeongNam Branch of the Korea Nurses Association in November, 1986. The results were as follows ;
1. Nurses perception of work stress
1) Mean score of total work stress of nurses was 4.058,when maximum score was 6. High degree of work stress is evident among clinical nurses
2) Reward got the highest score among the stress factors; then in the order of role, interpersonal relationship, ward management, work load, and physical environment. 2. Relationship between degree of stress and personal characteristics;
There was significant correlation between the score of nurses¢¥ work stress and religion.
